Client: Duquesne University
Location: City of Pittsburgh
Architect: IKM, Inc.
Originally built in 1870, Duquesne University’s “Old Main” administration building underwent a first floor renovation with TEDCO. The entryway design was modified from a traditional lobby space to a multi-media gallery with large format flat panel displays. These displays detail historical information regarding the university as well as the Spiritan Fathers, founders of Duquesne University.
Beyond this welcoming space is a refreshed reception area, zoned into three functionalities. Reception, centrally located, is flanked by hospitality and exploration areas. The hospitality suite is designed to hold tour groups of up to 20 persons comfortably. The exploration area gives candidates and students the opportunity to utilize large flat panel screens connected to iPads to further explore the programs and culture Duquesne University has to offer.
New office spaces for admissions counselors utilize glass partitions to further the flow of natural light in this high-ceiling building.
TEDCO’s knowledge in the construction field was very impressive, and the level of pride they took with the finished product was second to none.
