Client: American Eagle Outfitters
Location: 19 Hot Metal Street, City of Pittsburgh
Architect: The Design Alliance
The headquarters of American Eagle Outfitters sit at the juncture of 19 and 77 Hot Metal Street, an homage to their founding in 1977. Originally built for 350 employees, over 700 now work in this collaborative space.
Designed to be a casual environment, this office space includes a photography studio, three lab stores, and wellness center with locker rooms. The employee cafeteria boasts a wood-fired brick oven.
To better stay ahead of the ebb and flow of the retail industry, workstations meant for impromptu meetings are set up throughout the office. Other areas are designed in an open lounge style, with couches and chairs set up for the comfort and creativity of the employees.
The eagle emblem outside of the building measures 20 feet by 30 feet, and weighs 10,000 pounds.
TEDCO was able to identify many areas of potential savings that did not sacrifice any of the design integrity or quality for the 19 Hot Metal fit-out. The job went very smoothly, in large part due to TEDCO’s willingness to work together and their ability to treat all vendors and subcontractors fairly. The end result was a quality, state-of-the-art facility that came in on budget.
